Full Moon in Sagittarius - What's the Big Picture?
Sagittarius, the sign of higher education, travel, and long journeys, always asks us, “What’s the big plan? What’s the big picture?” On June 9th’s full moon in Sagittarius, we’ll have the opportunity to ask just this question of our own lives.
The Sun in Gemini is curious, interested in information gathering and socializing, and communicative. It’s an air sign, so it operates best on a mind level and loves to collect up knowledge. But when the moon in Sagittarius is opposing the sun, we start get the feeling that there might be a big picture that all of this knowledge fits into. In fire signs like Sagittarius, we trust our intuition more, and Sagittarius represents our ability to intuitively pull the strand out of the big picture that we need versus the endless process of information gathering.
Now is the time to ask yourself where are you in the “Big Plan” of your life? Do you rely too much on other people’s opinions or what you’ve learned in books to define yourself, or do you have an intuitive sense of who you are and what your purpose is?
Moon Conjunct Saturn
Don’t be surprised if today you’re feeling heavy emotions or are inclined to be a bit critical of yourself and others. Saturn, the planet of restriction and limitation, is transiting at 24’ Sagittarius, giving a heavy feel to this full moon. The moon in Sagittarius, normally expansive, joyful, and full of big ideas, will be weighed down by more practical matters. We won’t get the full excitement of moon in Sagittarius, but we will have the opportunity to get real with ourselves about how to bring our ideas into form. We’ll be able to take our big picture thinking and see what we realistically need to do to make things happen. Some questions you can ask yourself: How can I really get my ideas to work? What are the practical steps needed to turn my ideas into reality?
Moon/Sun Square Neptune
Neptune, in its home sign of Pisces, is lending a mystical and otherworldly energy to this full moon. Don’t be surprised if you find yourself having insights of a spiritual or psychic nature. But be cautious – while Neptune in Pisces is a spiritual and mystical energy, it can also be a confusing and deceptive one. Both the sun and the moon are squaring Neptune – traditionally not an easy aspect – and this aspect can leave you feeling foggy-headed or give you insights that may not be beneficial to you in the long run. The solution? Accept any spiritual insights you get with this aspect but take them with a grain of salt and wait to act on them. I’m recommending at least until the next full moon – when the Sun will be trine Neptune, a significantly better aspect than the square.
Sun Quincunx Pluto
Pluto is the planet of transformation and letting go of whatever no longer serves us. Currently transiting at 18’ Capricorn, it will be exactly quincunx the sun this full moon. The quincunx is a bit of a funny energy –it’s not like the square or opposition, aspects which can be downright painful, but it is itchy. It’s annoying enough you start to have ideas about changing some things around, but not annoying enough to actually change them. This full moon, we’ll be feeling this itchy energy of transformation, and it’s a good time to begin to assess what needs to go from your life – whether that’s a relationship, a job, a way of thinking – anything that no longer serves you. Again, remember the big picture – what is your vision for your life and what steps do you need to take to make that happen? Start thinking about what needs to change and transform now, because the July Capricorn Full Moon will be conjunct Pluto – making that need to let go front and center.
In summary, this full moon is the time to honor the big picture in your life. It's time to get in touch with that grand vision, figure out what small steps you need to take and to let go of whatever's not serving your vision. Most importantly, trust in the big picture. You'll be glad you did.
